Meet Jenny from Gingersnap Photography. A professional wedding photographer of 15 years, she loves all aspects about weddings. From the planning to the emotions before the “I do’s”, from the celebration and to the joy. She strives to capture all of those moments in a timeless and elegant way.
What inspired you to start your business?
I was still a Photojournalism student when I shot my first wedding on a freezing cold NYE at the Palliser Hotel here in Calgary. We had the beautiful penthouse level which is surrounded by windows and I fell in love with using natural/available light to create a soft editorial style of wedding photos. The bride is my best friend! A year later after I graduated, GingerSnap Photography was born.
What’s your favourite part about working in the wedding industry?
My favourite part of working in the wedding industry is observing how trends, colours, styles evolve and change and how all industry vendors use their creativity to forge new and fresh products and services for brides and grooms.
Share a piece of advice with our brides:
One bit of advice that I have for brides and grooms is to make sure you have your paperwork/license with you on the day of your wedding! That can get lost in the fray and I learned that from personal experience at my own wedding last summer. I have two wedding dates as a result! Haha! Our amazing officiant did another official service with signing of the documents two weeks after our big wedding day. It is a funny and kind of romantic story but it isn’t always possible to make that happen, so get your paperwork in order!
Do you have any fun news coming up that you’d like to share?
My fun news is that I am starting to look at new branding including packaging and albums for my wedding clients. I want to provide an heirloom that is unique and heartfelt for every couple. I also have a few dates coming up TBA for boudoir marathons for brides-to-be who want to be pampered and create sensual images for their partner as a gift. Check my websitewww.gingersnapphotography.ca and Instagram account instagram.com/ginger_snap_photo for news and updates.
What’s a wedding trend that you’re totally in love with right now?
A wedding trend that I love is elopements! And I offer special pricing for these tiny intimate weddings. It is so romantic and there is a world of options that I would love to chat with couples about.
