If a photographer with a lot of heart and soul is who you want to spend your wedding day with, then you have to meet Melanie of Melanie Dawne Photography. She is nothing short of passionate about photography – which she loves to the moon and back.
What inspired you to start your business?
My inspiration for starting my business came from many different places. But I would have to say my biggest inspiration was from a brilliantly talented friend who has been a photographer for over 20 years. To watch him LOVE his work as much as he does. To be inspired by his talent. And to see the joy on his face even when he is simply talking about photography. That’s what made me realize “THIS, this is what I want to do!” It went from being a hobby and a dream, to a vision and then reality. Best decision I’ve ever made.
What’s your favorite part about working in the wedding industry?
My favorite part about the wedding industry is of course working with the amazing couples. To see people so in love and starting their lives together, is such a joy. I am grateful for every wedding I’m asked to shoot because I’m the one who gets to capture these irreplaceable, magical moments. It’s my images that they will look back on when they’re older, the ones they will show their kids and grandkids. It’s truly a blessing.
Share a piece of advice with our brides:
My advice would be to get creative and have fun with your engagement, save the date and wedding photos! Do something silly. Thing outside the box! Use props, play in the leaves, have a pillow fight, add colour, go barefoot, choose a theme, bring your pet. Not all photos have to be traditional. Look back on them and smile. Be yourselves.
Do you have any fun news coming up that you’d like to share?
I’d say my more recent and exciting news, aside from being a part of this amazing market would be the opening of my new studio! It’s a dream come true!
What’s a wedding trend that you’re totally in love with right now?
Hands down my favorite wedding trend right now is rustic glam. Love, love, love this look. It mixes raw, natural materials with elegant and glamorous touches! Lace, burlap, gold and cream. Plus it looks fantastic in photos.
