In a nutshell, The Parrish House Photos specializes in natural light wedding photography with bright, airy images, a love of authentic moments and capturing emotions, and offering quality images that stand the test of time.
What inspired you to start your business?
Like many photographers, I love photography. I didn’t start out photographing weddings though, I actually started with fine art photography. I began selling art prints of Paris and other locations that I loved and out of that realm I began to get an itch to photograph people. Once I photographed my first wedding with another photographer, I fell in love with it and haven’t looked back.
What’s your favorite part about working in the wedding industry?
I love the beauty and creative details – the rings, the florals, the decor, the dresses – the romance and excitement but I also love the actual commitment that a wedding signifies. I love being able to record a moment in time that can forever remind my couples of why their relationship is worth investing in. Why it’s worth sticking with one another long after the wedding glow. Why it’s worth having something to show your kids and grandkids.
Share a piece of advice with our brides:
Make sure that you don’t get so caught up in planning an amazing event that you forget to invest in your future marriage! If you want to do anything well, you have to invest time and effort into learning how to do it. Weddings, even the best planned ones, rarely go as perfectly as planned, so don’t get so lost in details that you forget to set your marriage up for success!
PS – And guys, if your future bride loves coffee, bringing her coffee in bed is a sure-fire way to keep her falling in love with you over and over again 😉
Do you have any fun news coming up that you’d like to share?
I just had some artwork purchased for a featured renovation on The Property Brothers and I may possibly have two other images featured in a new London hotel that is being built next year.
What’s a wedding trend that you’re totally in love with right now?
I’m absolutely in love with lace wedding dresses. For so long it was all about the same strapless silhouette, but now we’re seeing gorgeous lace details, keyhole backs, long laces sleeves and stunningly elegant details. These dresses are a dream to photograph!! So gorgeous!!
